Birdzout App

Birdzout devices will require occasional firmware updates, which is usually completed via the birdzout app.

Occasionally the update process through the birdzout app can fail. If this has happened, please follow the below instructions.

1. Try the update process again after disconnecting the phone from the device, turning Bluetooth off and back on again on the phone, reconnecting to the device and attempting the update process again.
2. If still not completing the update, try it on another phone.
3. If still not completing the update please following the below instructions:

Preparation - you can do this where internet access is easy, before going to the Birdzout device

1. First download the firmware file, and save this to an easy to access location on your phone. The filename includes a version number e.g., fw-bioacoustics_v1.0.472_app_update.bin
2. Install the nRF Connect for Mobile app

Make sure you have line-of-sight to the Birdzout device's antenna

1. Open the nRF Connect for Mobile app
2. Tap SCANNER tab at top of screen
3. Filters are displayed immediately under SCANNER; clear all filters
4. Tap the Birdzout device in the list
5. Tap the small round DFU button at the top right of the screen, and select the firmware file you downloaded
6. Press OK

The update should complete in 1 to 2 minutes
